What:
A safe confidential space on zoom in Central European Time zone to:
*connect monthly with other people experiencing bladder cancer
*share experiences and tips (not medical advice)
*practice accessible mindfulness to help reduce stress and anxiety
Who:
Bladder cancer patients and their loved ones.
Why:
I’ve been asked if I would be interested in setting up and running an online self-help space in Europe. As Bladdergraffiti readers know, I’ve had bladder cancer for 10 years with 7 recurrences and many different treatments. This year I’ve had a cystectomy and now have an ileum pouch. Over the years I’ve benefitted most from attending self-help groups regularly and from a daily mindfulness practice which is why I thought of combining the two. I’m a teacher, yoga teacher and stress management trainer but know from experience that the most value of a self-help group is the sense of community that comes from being in a similar situation.
Why mindfulness:
Most of what happens to us when we get diagnosed with bladder cancer is out of our control, what we do have some control over is our stress response and how we deal emotionally with the situation. Mindfulness won’t cure the cancer, but it does make a difference, to how we feel on the journey. The mindfulness component will be brief and there will be enough time to share with one another and offer each other support.
When:
If the above sounds interesting to you and you’d like to be involved with selecting a time / day please get in touch via the link below and I’ll include you in the upcoming poll.
Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you online soon. Best bladder wishes Paula aka Bladdergraffiti
